Are the larger size options all attached together (as in, 40 "files" in one piece)? Or are these just sets of 20 that you can stack or attach?

All are separate dividers that stack and have a fin-like shape in the backs that "nest" on each other which is what makes them interlock when stacked.

So this product for $23 has the availabity to hold say 20 tee shirts?

Exactly. There are 20 separate dividers that interlock in the back and are intended to hold 1 article of clothing each. You can stack them about as tall as you like. Thanks for the question!

If these are used in a drawer, how do you see and get to the various items? Also, can they be used for bulkier items like sweaters?

You will still have to flip through them in a drawer, but it should be easy enough to see them. And anything too bulky won't allow for the backs to interlock, so they slide off each other. Nothing thinker than a thin sweater would work.
